Corporate Social Responsibility in Africa
Art in Tanzania works with the Tanzanian corporate and government institutions to develop Corporate Social Responsibility activities. International interns and volunteers capacitate environmental awareness development, climate change adjustment work, public health, and elementary education development work among others.
In the Western world, private citizens’ social responsibility is commonly well recognized and introduced in school curriculums and public advocacy programs.
In Tanzania, the private citizen's social responsibility is poorly known, and the public is usually not well informed about climate change. At the same time, Tanzania is one of the countries where climate change is strongly affecting the agriculture-based economy. Social responsibility issues are not given serious thought in corporate policies.
This program has a cross-cutting focus where students of different professions can attend and work together. We work as a team managed by Art in Tanzania’s academic level team leaders. The tasks include advocacy work in schools, developing the corporate social responsibility approach, producing advocative media and visibility as well as other similar tasks.
